Sarah grew up in the Black Mountains, Mid Wales. At eighteen, she moved to London where she trained to be an actress. Whilst appearing in theatre shows, doing bits of telly and a few films, Sarah also enjoyed careers as a waitress, a courier controller, a receptionist at a record company and a cleaner, and could be regularly spotted on the number 73 bus with her vacuum cleaner.

Returning to Wales, Sarah worked with theatre companies and began to devise and develop shows and workshops for young people. She enjoyed working with young people so much, she had a family, became a teacher and started to write children’s books.

In 2009, Simon and Schuster published Sarah’s first two Princess Evie books, Neptune the Magic Sea Pony and Silver the Magic Snow Pony. There are now nine picture books in the series and four Evie fiction books for older readers. Princess Evie has been translated into seventeen languages including Welsh and Arabic, Norwegian and French and this year the series will appear in Mandarin! The tenth book, Melody the Magic Music Pony is due out next year alongside Sarah’s new book, Being a Princess is Very Hard Work (Bloomsbury). Sarah is developing another series for very little littlies and is writing her first novel that involves a town trapped in time, black magic and bananas!

Sarah lives in the mountains with her husband, a musician and mad inventor, two nut maidens and a stripy cat.
